robbyfarley Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 Hello, Im new to this forum and i was wondering with oscommerce is there a way to directly edit the database that stores my products for my site... I have about 100 products to put into my site and it is time consuming to have to add them in the usuall way... Is there a way that i can download the database that stores my products that are already listed and download them to my computer. As i would not have to be online all the time then. So that i can edit the database on my computer then upload it back to my site? Thank you.
Jack_mcs Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 You can't do that, at least not easily, since the products have to be cross-referenced to the categories. The preferred way is to install the Easy Populate contribution and let it sort it out for you. How do i get it and use it?
Jack_mcs Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Click on the Community menu item above and select Contributions. Then type in Easy Populate in the search box on that page.Find the Easy Populate contribution from that list. The most stable version is .79 or before. The latter ones had a lot of problems. They may be fixed by now so you may want to try them too. Warning: move_uploaded_file(DIR_FS_DOCUMENT_ROOT/catalog/temp/EP2006Sep05-1111.txt) [function.move-uploaded-file]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/robrmchm/public_html/catalog/admin/easypopulate_functions.php on line 32 Warning: move_uploaded_file() [function.move-uploaded-file]: Unable to move '/tmp/phpalmQpy' to 'DIR_FS_DOCUMENT_ROOT/catalog/temp/EP2006Sep05-1111.txt' in /home/robrmchm/public_html/catalog/admin/easypopulate_functions.php on line 32 File uploaded. I have tried to upload from the temp dir and from my computer directly and i still get this error. And even tried to upload a csv file as the manual states. Have i missed something? I have followed the manuals and still get the errors above. I have made sure that the temp dir is set to read write execute (777) Do i have to change some setting in the easypopulate.php file itself? and where?
Jack_mcs Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 This problem has been mention many times. The DIR_FS_DOCUMENT_ROOT in that error should not be displayed. So there is something wrong with the version you have, or you don't have it setup correctly. I don't know which since I don't use that version. You should ask about the problem in the Easy Populate support thread. Someone there may have seen the problem and found a fix for it.
