Newbie with Discount Question

I am new, but I have run a search on the documentation for this program and can't find the answer to this question. How do enable discounts? I just opened my store and one of my groups I subscribe to is letting us post links to our personal sites tomorrow. I would like to tell them to enter a coupon code for a discount. How do I do that?

 

Any help is greatly appreciated.

go to your host's cpanel and back up your database before installing any changes. Back up your catalog folder on your hard drive, also. Then, go for it.

Ok. I got as far as running the SQL query on the database. When I look at it through PhpMyAdmin - I can see the new tables. However, when I go to the control panel to install it, the module isn't there. What did I do wrong.

It say:

Log into your admin section and go to Modules > Order Total.

 

I guess the admin panel - I have been going to the admin panel where you add new products, view your reports, etc. Is that the right place?

Well, then you obviously missed a step somewhere along the line during the readme instructions on the admin side. You forgot to upload a modified file, a new file, or didn't modify a file correctly from the contribution -- on the ADMIN side of things.

(1) You didn't modify a file in the admin section of the contribution properly

(2) You didn't upload one of the new files on the admin side that they gave you in the contribution

(3) You forgot to upload the file(s) you modified on the admin side to your server using your FTP tool

You were right - one of the files got missed on upload. Thanks. I am having some errors with it, but have posted for help on that mods support thread. I think that's what I'm supposed to do. I really appreciate all your help!
