haggisv
I've been working on getting my site search engine friendly. I noticed it's been indexed by MSN already. Even though it has indexed all my product pages, when you do a search with MSN, it lists hundreds of URLs, all with category information, no information that's in the description of the product. When you click on them it does go to the individual products How can I make the search engine see and show the information in my product descriptions? Thank a lot for any feedback! Jack_mcs
You can't make them do it. They will decide what parts to take from your site, especially google. But by installing a meta tags contribution, like Header Tags, you can improve your chances of getting them to list what you want, not to mention getting better positions in the listings. haggisv
Use SEO PACK (SEO/METATAG/GOOGLESITEMAP contributions) to make your site search engine friendly. Thank you very much for the replies guys! I've checked out those contributions, and also the threads discussing them. Reading the threads really worries me, so many people are having problems with these contribs! Having little experience with php, I'm too worried it will totally stop my site from working, and I can't afford for this to happen. I have not yet figured out how to backup the complete installation. My host has told me they can copy all the files to another directory for me, which could allow me to test it on a site that's not 'live'. However they tell me it WILL still use the same database file, so any changes to the database may still stop the live site from working! I was hoping there were easier ways??? Jack_mcs
If your hosting plan allows for more than one database then you can setup a second one and use it for testing. Or you can install one of the php packages, like EasyPHP, on your computer and test your site there.
