Cannot start install?

Hi,

I'm not a newbie to osCommerce, I've set it up before. However, I'm trying to install it in on a new domain, and running into a strange issue:

The server is a windows XP sp2 box running Apache/2.0.55 (Win32) PHP/5.0.3.

I have moved the catalog directory to a public internet folder, and i goto: website.com/install (masking the real url here, ofcourse).

Everything looks normal, and i select install.

I leave both boxes checked, and press the "Continue" button.

This is where it goes awry.

The url in my address bar changes from "http://website.com/install/install.php" to "http://website.com/install/install.php?step=2" but the content of the page does not change. I am still presented with the options "Import Catalog Database:" and "Automatic Configuration:"

I was initally using Mozilla firefox, and thought it might have been a browser issue, so i tried again using ie6sp1 and to no avail, i had the same issue. for s**ts and giggles, i went to another computer and tried again using Firefox, and then again using IE7 RC1. But still, I'm having the same issue. This to me narrows the possible problems to the code or the server, but this is not the first php we've used on this machine.

I've never had this happen before, so any input would be wonderful.

Thanks in advance,

Daniel

The solution to this was to:

set "register_long_arrys = On" in php.ini

Whow ! 34 minutes between the initial post and its solution! Well, I AM a newbie  ! And how can I thank you enough, when you solve in a minute a problem that I deal with for looooong hours now !

I began with this Linux PC (Fedora 5) 4 days ago, I've fight with apache, then with PHP, MySQL, PHPMyadmin, webmin, other stuff :sweating: ... and finally, this OSC would'nt install itself for an obscure and strange (and, it's to be said: UNDOCUMENTED (!) ) reason !!??. Gosh.

Many THAAAANKS to you, Daenk. (w00t) Now I can go to bed -_-, dreaming of all the online shops I will set ! :P

Cheers !

Franck
