HSMagic
Yesterday I received a package from a customer that returned their entire order. Merchandise was bought 2 months ago. My returns policy is clear, returns on defectives for 30 days only, all sales considered final. So the guy borrows the stuff for 2 months and returns it with without authorization with "it wasn't what I expected, sorry" on the packing slip. >_< How do credit cards handle a potential charge back on cases like this? I'm inclined to not refund the purchase price but the weasel put the items back in my hands. Any advise is appreciated.
Chris Smith
You have to try and do what they do to us, tell them you never received them. :-" and fight the chargeback. Come on do it. :D see how they like it

Speaking on the other side of this, is it possible to send a return shipping card customers can affix which offers USPS prepaid shipping, the cost of which will be determined when they ship things back? bobg7
Here is what I do: I include a copy of the Return Policy with each order. On the return policy it states 'Returns without prior authoration will be for credit only, no cash refunds'. Returns after 30 days from the delivery date will be assess a xx% restocking fee. mpiscopo
I like what Bob said. Maybe you can tell him that he is past the 30 day return period but you'll be happy to offer him store credit. Was the product used at all? Or was it untouched and in its original packaging?
♥peterpil19
If the product was defective your "30 day return policy" might not have any legal bearing depending on your jurisdiction. For example, in Austaralia, merchantibility of goods is implied by statute and cannot be altered or displaced by contract. Ggrego
I had this happen last year from a smuck in California. He did not follow the RMA procedures that was clearly post on my website. Being I use PayPal they will refund their money irregardless. I was really ticked about this even though regardless what state you are in in the U.S. if you return policy are clearly stated and posted on you site, reciept or whatever you do not have to honor the return. But if you have PayPal they will return their money period.

Best idea so far! Thanks.
HSMagic
I added a brief statement to the end of my invoice.php to reflect the return policy. Right after <!-- body_text_eof //--> add <br><br> <?php echo ' INSERT YOUR RETURN POLICY HERE HTML FORMATTING OK ' ?> Easy stuff.
