Suggestions for new osCommerce site

I am in the planning stages for creating and launching a new website. We currently have a very amateur website with lots of manual work and linking to PayPal as the payment service. I have been shopping for osCommerce templates. My primary questions are:

 

1. Any advices on whether to use CRE loaded scripts versus standard osCommerce scripts?

 

2. Suggestions on good template shops to work with?

It all depends on your shop and what you want it to do.

 

I suggest you note down all the features you NEED, then those you might need and finally those you might like to include.

 

If the basic OSC fits your NEED go for that one, if you are only a few easy contribs away from your future need ? still go for OSC but if you need most of what cre offers out the box then go for that.

 

Be awear however that once you add templetes and fancy contribs working on your site takes longer and needs much more thought. As for templates - I wouldn't go to the expense of buying a template myself, just copy an existing one and adjust that to suit your design needs. If you can use a image app you can make a template, just make the images the same name and size.
