Having spent a day doing this I wanted to offer my findings to the community as it took me a fair bit of time to assimilate the info.

Payment processor:

After much searching PROTX is the way forward, they have broken the mould offering a "set price" service" at ?20 month. And it's good. And there is a contrib available here.

Merchant Banks

In the process of signing up for Protex (we've bought nothing yet)

You'll be given a complete list of available merchant banks + tel numbers: -

Lloyds TSB Cardnet

Barclays Merchant Services

HSBC

NatWest Streamline

Bank of Scotland

Get their initial prices, play them off against each other re:

Set up cost

Debit card cost%

Credit card cost%

Purchasing card/Business card%

Chargeback Fees

Early Termination Fee/Is this a rollover annual contract

Most importantly How quick will they pay you?

Hope this helps someone.

Thanks, Im at this stage in the development of my site (choosing a card processer) this will really help and cut out a lot of time. Stowmarket, I used to live there and finished off my schooling at Stowmarket high, next to the swimming complex. Never managed to get used to it though being from London to quite, except in the town on a Friday night when you would get a load of 13 year old's giving you lip. Most of my family remained there, stowupland thetford gt finbrough (i think) loverly place though.

How did you find the transition? I was in my late teens when I moved back now i'm a little bit older and married I'm trying to move out into the country again, but much nearer London, Kent, Surrey that kind of area. Suffolk is beautiful but to close to my mum.
