Configuration for Online Bookstore

I'm setting up an online bookstore for someone, and I need a place to enter authors' names without having to pretend they are manufacturers. I'm sure there's a way to do this, but every time I use the search terms "author" or "book" I get nothing but generic posts about authors of code or books about osCommerce. Help!

There is nothing in the stock shop for authors. There may be a contribution just for that but I don't recall one. What you need to do is add the extra fields to the database and the code to handle them as you need.
