solar3 Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 I am unsure to why I am getting this error while trying to add a product image in the store. I have never had this problem before and am unsure what to do. Please help! Thanks. Error: Catalog images directory is not writeable: /home/virtual/site125/fst/var/www/html/store/catalog/images/
jpweber Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 You don't have permissions to write to the images directory. Do you know how to change CHMOD permissions in a file? You need to set your images directory to 777 -- that means, make it readable, writeable, and executable. You can do this through your host's cpanel, or you can use an FTP utility. You can go to www.download.com and search for "FTP" for a free FTP utility. You then need to right-click on your catalog/images directory, and make sure the permissinos are set to 777, and/or check off readable, writeable, and executable -- all the boxes. Then you won't receive this error. jpweber Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Here, I'll make it easy: Click here to download WS_FTP LE and then save it to your desktop. It's free and I use it. Double click it on your desktop, and keep clicking next, etc., following the installation procedure. Then start the program: Click the new profile button, and set it up like this: Profile Name: Whatever you wanna call your website host name/address: yourdomain.com (no www in there) host type: automatic detect UserID: the name your host assigned to you Password: the password your host assigned to you *leave anonymous blank, and check of "Save Pwd" *leave account blank *leave comment blank Then hit "connect" On your left side is your hard drive, on the right side is your server. Use the arrows in between to either download to your hard drive, or upload to your server. Then go to the right side and (I'm guessing) probably public_html, then click catalog, then you will see your images folder. Right-click it, and check off all the boxes, readable, writeable, executable. Then you're all set. No more errors.
