Guest Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 trying to set up my site by moving all the files to the root folder, yet i am having numberous problems. the admin page wont let me in, the password seems to get lost in the move somewere/ none of the links work on the test site after it gets moved; if some one could tell me how to move all the files to the root hastle free i would be gratefull, also what order do you have to do it? design your site then move it, or move the files then begin work?? any help / advice appreciated.
brianstorm Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 your problems are probably easily resolved although may take a bit of work.... your password (there is more than one way to password protect directories) and associated files (.htaccess?) have a path included... best bet is to redo the password protection from scratch on yoru new server your links being broken are most likely going to be fixed by adjusting the various paths in /includes/configure.php and admin/includes/configure.php have a look at where the files exist on your new server and adjust those files accordingly... if you don't know here they are you could try asking your host what the path to your web folder is other than correcting configure.php its just a case of creating the db & user (also reflected in configure.php) and importing your data with ten thousand dollars we'll all be millionaires
