More in-depth customisation of product_listing.php

Hey there, I'm new to the whole osCommerce system but have already developed a pretty good understanding of how it all functions. I have customised my entire store except for the product list page which displays the thumbnail, name and price of each product before clicking on a product to view the full details.

I was just wondering if there is any easy way to customise it more thoroughly. I want a thumbnail on the left, and on the right I want the product name, then on the next line price, then next line short description (already added that part).

Is there a contribution that can assist with this at all or not? Attached is a screen shot of what is there now and what I want it to pretty much look like.

Thanks,

Here. Go to your admin panel, probably at http://www.geersen.com.au/catalog/admin or something.

Then click "configuration"

Then click "Product Listing"

There, you can choose what you want to show up on your product listings page, as you call it. Highlight an item. When you assign a value to it, that's your sort order. If you want the picture first, then highlight "Display Product Image" first, and give it a "1" as a sort order. Then go to what you want next -- if it's product name, go to "Display Product Name" and give it a "2" as a sort order.

If you want to add a short description underneath the product name, there are several contributions for this, but I highly recommend downloading and installing this contribution; after all, I use it (look at my signature): http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,3123

Good luck. Hope this helps.

Thanks jpwebber, its a good start for me, but I still want to be able to have a little more control over it like I do on the product details page where I can choose exactly where I put each field. I'll try your suggestion and maybe mess around a bit with the code from there.

Matt, there is a contribution called "EZNewFields", and, well, I mean, the list goes on and on; there are probably 10-15 contributions for altering your product table. Search the contributions, and keep searching until you find one that suits your needs.
