jpweber
Hello Gary. First, I'm assuming you have a Paypal business account. Second, you're messing with the preinstalled paypal module, which doesn't work. You must install this contribution: http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,2679/ ... Do this before anything else. Then you need to go to your paypal account, and you must enter the location of ipn.php. This means log into paypal, then click "profile", then click "instant payment notification preferences", and set the proper path to your ipn.php, which should be something like http://www.yourwebsite.com/catalog/ext/mod...pal_ipn/ipn.php ... Then you should be good to go. Hope this helped. Guest
Hi JP Thank you for the information. One question. You said Copy the files in the directory structure set in the contribution download file to your osCommerce installation directory. Note: Be sure to also copy the new "ext" directory to the catalog root directory. Basically all the is in these files are the IPN.PHP file in the Ext folder the paypal_ipn.php file in the language folder the paypal_ipn.php file in the INCLUDES folder Do I replace the existing paypal.php for the new ones above. I cannot find the ext folder in Oscommerce. What am I suppose to install the ipn.php file in the Ext folder Thank you Hello Gary. First, I'm assuming you have a Paypal business account. jpweber
Gary, did you read my post? I didn't say what you said I said. lol. I'll post it again. But to reiterate, you MUST DOWNLOAD THE PROPER CONTRIBUTION FIRST, AND INSTALL IT. Here's my original post: Hello Gary. First, I'm assuming you have a Paypal business account. Guest
Hi, I thought I read throught the documention. Here is the install section in the documention link Installing the PayPal IPN Copy the files in the directory structure set in the contribution download file to your osCommerce installation directory. Note: Be sure to also copy the new "ext" directory to the catalog root directory. Go to the Administration Tool->Modules->Payment section at your osCommerce Administration Tool. Install the PayPal IPN module and configure its parameters. Note: The module is disabled by default so configuration can occur during the operation of a live store. If you already have a version of this PayPal IPN module installed, then you will need to remove the IPN from your admin area first (by clicking "remove") before following the steps above. I have copied the files in the directory structure as I understand it. There are two folders in the download I got from the link you gave me in first post. The two folders are Catalog Help Files If you click on the Catalog folder Two more folders come up EXT INCLUDES If you click the EXT folder, the MODULE folder apprears, click that the PAYMENT folder appears, click that the PAYPAL_IPN folder appears, click that and you have a file ipn.php If you click the INCLUDES folder, two folders come up LANGUAGE MODULES If you click the LANGUAGE folder, the English folder appear, click and the MODULE folder, click then the PAYMENT folder, click then the file paypal_ipn.php appears. If you click the MODULES folder then the PAYMENT folder, click then the file paypal_ipn.php appears. So am I just support to put the entire catalog folder in the OsCommerce root? Sorry if I am a bit dense. I know just enough about this stuff to be dangerous. Thank you in advance
jpweber
Gary, I'm not sure how much I can help you here. You need to download oscommerce_paypal_ipn, and you need to follow the readme instructions that come with it. Yes, it will involve uploading some new files, and creating that catalog/"ext" directory on your server. But it also involves altering other files, Gary; you're going to have to follow the readme instructions step-by-step. It may take you an hour to install oscommerce_paypal_ipn, but you have to do it in order to get paypal to work properly. You're going to have to use your PHP editor and alter files the way the readme instructions tell you to alter them. It's a lot more than just uploading some files to your server. That's about the best I can do for you without being in front of your computer working on it for you. jpweber
If you ever do install it properly, you will see a new Paypal IPN XML in your ADMIN paymen module section, and you will know how to configure it. Everything will make sense then. And don't forget to do what I said to do on your paypal account too, but only after you've properly installed oscommerce_paypal_ipn -- the contribution I linked you to above. Guest
Hello Gary. First, I'm assuming you have a Paypal business account. Hey jpweber, Do you know if this contrib you linked to integrates with PayPal's Website Payments Standard or Website Payments Pro? I only have the Standard type account and I want to accept credit cards and be paid right into my PayPal account. Will this contrib work? Thanks! jpweber
Morcar: YES. You MUST install this contribution to get Website Payments Standard and Website Payments Pro to work. Once you install the contribution -- and follow the readme instructions carefully -- then you can go into your paypal account and do what I said way above there. After you installed the contribution and went to your ADMIN and you see Paypal IPN XML in your ADMIN panel's payment modules (located at http://www.yourwebsite.com/catalog/admin, probably), go into paypal, go to "profile" and configure your instand payment notifications so that it points to ipn.php. Then you can choose things within paypal such as the Website Payments Pro/Standard, if you wish. COOL! jpweber, thanks for such a quick & informative reply! I've already tried another PayPal contrib, called PayPal Payment Screen 1.2, which did not help me get my payments to PayPal. I'm guessing that before trying the IPN Module contrib above, I need to carefully UNDO all the things I did for the previous contrib... Is that what you'd advise? Thanks! jpweber
Just go to your ADMIN. Go to http://www.yourwebsite.com/catalog/admin ... then go to modules, then payment, and make sure all other payment modules are removed -- highlight them and click "remove". They won't actually leave the page; they'll just be obsolete. But the main thing is to go ahead and install the contribution I mentioned way above, and follow the readme instructions carefully, and you'll be just fine. It's not fun; it's going to take an hour of hard work, but it'll be worth it once you see Paypal IPN XML on your modules in your ADMIN, functioning perfectly. Good luck. Gotta go for now. Guest
Hi JP, Gary Nice again. I did everything correctly I believe. I did not put in anything for the following questions in the Admin of OsCommerce for the Pay Pal IPN. However, when I try and go to checkout, it first shows the Securiyt window but then it ends up showing the page cannot be found message. do I have to include something else.
