warleb Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I have decided to encrypt my whole site. The customer is protected at all times. Is there any drawbacks having this applied to the whole site? I don't bother doing backups. I love the thrill of screwing it all up!
brianstorm Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 i believe the drawback is that ssl tranaction place a greater load on the server in terms of processing time, etc... its obviously judged not necessary by many major sites and only certain stages are encrypted (eg login, checkout, etc)...the way that oscommerce works is that customer use ssl while logged in which i believe offers pretty good protection.... i am not an expert in this field but i don't see much advantage in offering ssl catalogue brwosing for customers who are not even logged in.... with ten thousand dollars we'll all be millionaires
