bill110
Our new store is live and we need all the critique we can get! Thanks! http://sharpweblabs.com/shop/index.php Steve Liked the scrolling cart info. You need to get a SSL cert. If you do have one it does not show up on create account page. First page is a bit long. Maybe you could put the info that appears below the date in an info box in the center column. There is plenty of room since you have so many catagories. WOW I would hate to have to enter that many products and then have to check each one out! products display nicely. Yes we have a SSL cert., still waiting for our server guy to activate it. Should be working soon. Thanks for tip on moving an info box to middle. Probably will do that. Thanks again! Guest
The whole layout and navigation leaves me completely confused to be honest. I'm not trying to pick this apart completely, so don't take it personally, but here's what I think: To start with the category list is just vast, and I don't think that all of the categories are well named. i.e. 'speciality teas' - if I wanted tea surely I'd look in the alphabetical list under 'tea' not 'speciality'. I'd also seperate them into a few more general categories and then create subcategories of those. The other alternative would be to implement a really good search system. Why do I need the date displayed in that blue bar half way down the page? - If I wanted to know the date I'd look at my system clock or my watch. Beneath that is this block of text that looks like it's been added the front page solely for search engines, and isn't overly coherent. Most of it is repeated elsewhere anyway. Beneath that is what looks like a link farm at first glance, largely to sites that are either just link farms themselves or are actually offering the same or competing products to your own for sale - that just seems bizarre to me. Additionally you aren't really doing yourself any favours with big search engines in this way, all of the big boys algorythms are now heavilly based on the quality and relevance of links rather than just the number of them. In the right column you have a box called 'breakthroughs', I expected to click a link in there and go to an info page telling me about this breakthrough and then listing products in it. What I actually got was a product search result page - and I just sat here thinking 'I didn't know I'd done a search' :s The category images are seemingly pretty random, some are pictures of products on a white background, some are picture products on other random backgrounds, some are cartoonish. If you don't want to make all of them (which is a lot) consistent, then I would suggest getting rid of them completely. There are loads of info boxes and bits all over the place, but nowhere is there a 'what's in my cart' box. I believe that a lot of the time less is more, but one piece of info that I would always want to see is what I've got in my cart. Your header logo should be a link back to the homepage, visitors just expect this, it's a convention. To have a privacy policy, etc. is fantastic, but I think your shipping and returns page is far far too long. I looked at it expecting to find out simply how long it would take for my stuff to arrive, and was faced with a huge page of text that just seemed to go on and one when I scrolled down and seemed to contain a worrying amount of disclaimers. Guest
Just a quick extra note, in stark contrast to the first poster, I absolutely hate the cart info in the status bar. My feeling is that the status bar is there for a reason, and that's what it should be used for. It's really annoying when I hover over a link and look at the status bar to see where it will take me (because none of your links show titles on hover) and instead there is the scrolling cart contents. Additionally a lot of people actually browse with the status bar not shown, as I did earlier which is why I said I couldn't see my cart contents anywhere. Another thing I've just noticed is that your 'privacy notice' and 'conditions of use' seem to be repeating the same huge text. Why not just integrate them into one page and lose the other one? MEDIAZONE
Hi You have made a very good start and the site looks clean. However The Front Page is Far too long. Think about it from a customers point of view: You go onto a site and expect to be wowed and instantly know what is for sale on that site, I didnt get this it took a good few minuted to figure it out, Then i scrolled down expecting to read somthing or to continue to see products, First all i got was White space then some text that i wouldnt read nor do i think anyone would. The categories are TOO MANY perhaps decrease them and add a link to "More Categories i suggest maybe just show your top 10 categories and have a link for the rest. "THE CART" Its is almost like a brain template, when looking for a cart your expect to see it right hand column of a site, I wouldnt even look down to see a cart i would just click off and go to another site. I will close this with the following statement. "A site can have a awesome design but the user friendlyness of the site can be awful" THINK USER FIRST THEN DESIGN. With this you can't go wrong! Many Thanks Simon Your Media Zone Remember to ALWAYS BACKUP Life is like box of chocs - You never know what your gonna get! Do you feel lucky punk? Well do ya! P-A-R-T WHY COS I GOTTA! Andrew Yuen
The overall layout is very clean but there is a lot of vertical scrolling. I would get rid of all the footer text and put in on an info page. Your header is very descriptive, I can tell what the site sells really fast. I would suggest a logo. I also suggest getting rid of the visa, discover, mastercard, amex logo in the upper right, that should go on the bottom of the page (it is already there). Consider consolidating categories in 3 tiers to eliminate a majority of the vertical scroll. Andrew Yuen osCommerce, Community Team

I just finished a 4 hour little redesign project geared towards what seems to be a big vetical overload problem. 1) I lost most of the footer mumbo jumbo and left one small clean paragraph as well as the credit card logo. 2) I added 2-3 Tier categories as you are all RIGHT! I had so many categories that the page went on 4 ever! PLEASE LOOK NOW! 3) I moved some "column right" data over to the lower left to even out the verticals. I think the site appears much better now. PLEASE LET ME KNOW! http://www.sharpweblabs.com/shop Sincerely, Steve Current Contributions: Page Cache, Center Store, Ultimate URL's, Header Tags, Product Description , Image Add To Cart - , Store Cache

skylla
A very basic shop, but it does the trick. Font is too large in product description. I like one of your customers' reviews, it made my day: "I don't have any health insurance. I have taken this for a few mounths (sic) now."
skylla
another one: "Also bought this new cellulite spray for my gitlfriend in Feb. It has seemed to bring some pretty good results so far. She has noticed a big reduction in the so called cottacge cheese deposits in the back of here thighs." there's many people making the same spelling mistakes btw. sharplab
Well should I give this store a FACELIFT or....... What to do next? Is this a hands down stock look or is it OK? The sales are beginning to arrive I think due to our competitive pricing even with the big guys. Need some more advice! THX!
