Sage Instant Accounts CSV

Hi

Reason for this post: Do I bother to package this as a contrib?

I've developed a package for myself that produces three of the five CSV files that are acceptable to Sage Instant Accounts, allowing you to regularly update Sage with one click in Osc.

Customer Records

Audit Trail Transactions

Stock Records

What it will do -

All your customers who buy are included with their address and contact details, the value of their purchase is recorded as well as tax.

All your products are recorded.

What it wont do -

Keep detailed info on the purchase - i.e. what they bought. Although the package will keep financial records you will not be able to drill down into the specifics of the sale.

I'll watch this post, if enough Osc users see this as being attractive then I'll package it as a contrib.

Great idea! We are really short on integration with accounting packages at the moment. I like the fact that you have kept it simple.

:)

I didn't so much KEEP it simple but was forced into simplicity by the fact that the Sage Instant Accounts package is limited in what you can and cannot upload.

The full 5 CSV files allowed are: -

Customer Records - Included

Supplier Records - Not included as Osc does not retain this

Nominal Ledger Records - Again Osc does not retain this

Audit Trail Transactions - Included

Stock Records - Included

I've never seen them but I'd imagine the higher versions of sage offer many more options, maybe the option to upload details of the sale which I would have liked.

Post it as a contrib. Even if you think few people will consider it useful, there's always "those few, those very few" who will consider you a GOD for saving their a$$e$. And for those that don't, will modify it for their own respective purposes. (and due to the GPL you original credits stay in place if I am not misaken).

The question is not, 'to code, or not to code'

the question is, 'if we do not code, are we really alive?'

It's not just a matter of "posting it" it would take a lot of work to remove "hardcoding" that is in place for my site to move text to language files etc. etc. ;) Therefore the reason for this post.
