jpweber Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 I want a $19.95 (USD) "handling fee" for everything ordered -- don't care what it is or where the customer lives. Same for all. But, if it's over a certain weight, say, over 500 lbs., then I need to have a truck load figure factored in. So if they order 2,000 lbs. worth of stuff, there will be a 19.95 handling fee + an "oversize charge" or something. I have the regular paypal_oscommerce_ipn module installed, but this really doesn't do it. I *would* like to give them a next day option even though it'd be rare, or two day option. But UPS doesn't handle those kinds of weights ... Anyone know of any sort of a solution or a contribution that sounds similar to this? Guest Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Would the Table Rate shipping module not cover this? You can set the fixed handling charge then for the table rates something like 499:0,999:50,1999:100 etc this would mean upto 500lbs is handling only then upto 1000 is $50 + handling etc etc Tom
jpweber Posted August 26, 2006 Author Posted August 26, 2006 Yeah Tom, thanks, I've looked into this. It's the closest thing I've got. I have a combination of the Table Rate and oscommerce_paypal_ipn right now; kind of a combination, you could say. But it's just not what I want. All my products are between 20 and 300 lbs., and they vary in length ... the longest being 14 feet by 8 feet. UPS just can't handle some of this stuff, especially on orders of multiples. Table rate works to an extent, but I don't want to charge ANY shipping .... none. Just a handling fee, and maybe an oversize charge if it's way too heavy and way too far away, so I don't take too much of a hit. I'll try tinkering with the table rate method some more, and see if I can mess around with it. Appreciate it, Tom.
