a virtual store is the same as a physical bricks-and-mortar one. Filling up with products is always the *last* thing on the "to-do" list ;-)

after you have your store installed - always, always, always, install any additional features and functionality (contributions) before you do anything else. It's much easier and quicker to install contributions on a stock install than a customised store.

 

Once you have your store fully functioning features-wise then it's time to concentrate on look and feel. Take each piece of the store at a time. Use this forum and the resources I listed above - they are very helpful. There are also some decent books out there on the subject (although I've hever used them so can't recommend any ;-) )
