Guest
Hi all, I could really do with some advice and help, i have been reading through these forums for the past month. I have recently tried to make some mods to my site and also add some contributions. But for some reason these do not seem to work. I'm sure i most be doing something wrong, although the last to contributions i have tried have been simple but still did not work. I get the feeling that maybe i have been trying to much, and maybe i have changed the wron files to many times. It would be great for some advice on this, but even better would be if some could have a look into my site just to check the everything is ok. Thanks you very much. www.cybersupplements.co.uk
abra123cadabra
To get help with implementing contributions or modifying your pages it would be very helpful if you were more precise. Like which contribs did you try to install and why do you think it didn't work. Do you get any error messages? Like this it's a very blind stab in the haystack. abra The First Law of E-Commerce: If the user can't find the product, the user can't buy the product. Feedback and suggestions on my shop welcome. Note: My advice is based on my own experience or on something I read in these forums. No guarantee it'll work for you! Make sure that you always BACKUP the database and the files you are going to change so that you can rollback to a working version if things go wrong. tkeats
A good rule of thumb to go by.. Never Never integrate another contribution unless you've known the last one was successful (this means doing a complete dry run through your shop, and hit every page possible) Never Never integrate contributions unless you've done a COMPLETE backup (this means files AND database) This way you can role back easily and not have to re-install if you've majorly fubared your install. Problem is if you've fubared the 1st contribution, hope in troubleshooting anything after will be faint at best. Not to mention some contribs just don't play nice together. Thomas Good advice, also make sure the contribution you are using is for the distro you are using. If you are using 2.2CVS make sure your contrib is for that version. Most of the contribs I have used do work however once in a while a new one make it to the top of the list and has not been tested verry well and may have contain errors. If that happens install your back-up and go back to the list and choose a contrib that has been around for a while. Contribs also have their own forum where you will find the authors of many of the contribs hanging out answering questions. http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showforum=7 If nothing in your site changed after installing a contrib you may want to make sure you uploaded to the correct folder in your server, If you have then hit the refresh button on your browser to make sure you are not viewing from cache.
