jpn Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 My client currently has an online store using OSCommerce. However he wishes to move to a different web server. I have backed up his data using the back up facility in admin. Regarding the rest of the files - Do I just need to copy the existing files to the new location or do I need to reinstall OSCommerce to the new server? Any advice welcome jpn

Any advice welcome jpn Hi, what you did is ok, however, you might want to Backup the Data Separately, do a database dump using phpmyadmin or mysql administrator, and download the oscommerce catalog files using ftp. 1. On your new hosting, you won't need to reinstall OSCommerce, just upload the Database Dump/Backup you created on your new MySQL Database 2. Upload the OSCommerce Catalog Files using FTP 3. Change the 2 configuration files according to your new hosting companies connection parameters. The files are located in  *** Catalog/includes/configure.php -- this is for your catalog or online store *** Catalog/admin/includes/configure.php -- this is for your admin page By the way if you are running your site from the root and you don't use the Catalog folder the configuration file location should be *** includes/configure.php -- this is for your catalog or online store *** admin/includes/configure.php -- this is for your admin page Hope this helps
jpn Posted August 25, 2006 Author Posted August 25, 2006 I have uploaded the file via FTP but I cant log into the admin section. It is not accepting my username / password. I looked through the database but could not find any mention of the username and password. Are the username and password set up during the installation of OS commerce? If so, can they be reset without re-installing OScommerce? Thanks, jpn

jpn Posted August 25, 2006 Author Posted August 25, 2006 [ try to use [email protected] with password admin Unfortunately that didn't work. Would there be any harm in re-installing OScommerce, set up passwords etc, and then upload the files fom the current webserver using FTP? Thanks, John
