wizard907
I installed OCcommerce onto my root directory instead of /catalog Are there any problems with this type of installation? Also could there be any security issues with me doing it like this? I'm using Yahoo Small business for hosting the site. Thank you in advance. Iggy
I installed OCcommerce onto my root directory instead of /catalog Yay! Are there any problems with this type of installation? Also could there be any security issues with me doing it like this? Nope. None at all. I'm using Yahoo Small business for hosting the site. Thank you in advance. No experience with Yahoo as a hosting service but if it works as expected should be fine. HTH, Iggy Everything's funny but nothing's a joke... jasonabc
I'm using Yahoo Small business for hosting the site. You could not have chosen a much worse hosting solution for an OSCommerce store (possibly with the exception of Earthlink :-) ) Jason My Contributions: Paypal Payflow PRO | Rollover Category Images | Authorize.net Invoice Number Fix

The reason I chose yahoo is because of their fast servers... Thank you
joeyjgarcia
I am considering using Yahoo hosting too. Please send me a private message on who is a good hosting company, please don't tell me iPowerWeb, I am using them for one eStore, although my store is a couple of years old and I'm not sure if their new servers are much better. I appreciate the help, I won't consider it spam.
♥Vger
Yahoo do not allow use of any file beginning with a period (dot), so you can't use .htaccess or .htpasswd files etc. You won't get any support from them for osCommerce. As for their fast servers - well they'd have to be, especially as most of the worlds spam is routed through @yahoo email addresses, and they even provide bulk mail facilities to spammers. Don't be surprised if many of your emails to your customers get rejected by their mail facility providers, because they are subscribed to the SpamCop or SpamHaus services. jasonabc
We're not allowed to recommend hosts on the boards - but do a search of these forums. OSC and Yahoo are not the best of friends ;-) Jason My Contributions: Paypal Payflow PRO | Rollover Category Images | Authorize.net Invoice Number Fix
