Guest
Hi.. I am in the process of setting up OsC on a new server- and to make a bookstore there. I have installed OsC on several other servers without major problems (except the usual "register_globals" error). But this time, when I access the ftp-server and change the catalog/includes/configure.php from 644 (rw-r-r) to 444 (r-r-r) then as soon as I leave the folder or log off the ftp-server the setting is automatically set back to 644 and the errors continues to be there: Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/www/integraltradition.com/catalog/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file. :( I tried to locate the file where this error-message is given and to comment it out - but that just messed up the whole thing (database etc.) so I had to reinstall it.. <_< My question is: Is there any way to avoid this error message - maybe by renaming the configure file or change some code somewhere? I think it must be some general settings on the host-server that I am unable to go around. Suggestions are welcome! plz... :'(

(www.integraltradition.com) Help would be appreciated - this is not a usual "read the manual ffs" problem - I can't find any info on how to solve it... :-"

That's the only way I could do it for a site recently. Or, if you have ssh access, you can change the perms that way as well.

Had this very same problem just now. Did according to his suggestion and it seems to have worked. At least there's no more warning tag on the index page. Try it. It's very probable that it will work for you too.
