Item weight in product description

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am new to oscommerce, but thought i was getting the hang of it...haha, I was WRONG.

I apoligise as this is probably real simple and i have just missed it somewhere along the lines.

I enter the product weight in the product description eg: 0.3 = I thought 300grams, i was wrong in assuming this as when i did a dummy checkout the item weight was shown as 3.3 lbs, if i put:

0.03 = 3.03lbs

1.4 = 4.4lbs

2.3 = 5.3lbs

so as you can see, it seems to have automatically added 3 lbs, even if i put the weight as 0.00 it comes out 3lbs.

can someone please help me remove this a automatic weight and also change the way it weighs as i want it to weigh in grams and kilograms.

I apoligise if this has already been listed, i have checked but i couldnt find anything.

http://www.cityglitz.co.uk - hav'nt finished yet but it should'nt be long.

Cheers

Wez

Make sure your products weight is same as shipping module

IE if your using Grams in product weight (300 NOT .3)

check your shipping module is also in grams and not kg or lb's

Which shipping modules ae you using?

Assuming you are in the U.K why not use (if not already) the royalmail modules?

I tried using Kg but was not succesful at getting the correct prices for the weight.

I ended up using grams in both the products weight and in the shipping module

Hi Shaun

just want to say thanks for your quick responce.

How do I make sure there the same weight?

how do I make it all in grams?

also if i put: 2 in product it = 2lb....300 = 50lb...i think this is because the wieght has a max of 50.

I have the royal mail module which ill be using for the UK and i reckon it would work if i could change the weight to grams, I also want to use a zone rate for the rest of EU...i think this would also be solved if i could change the wieght to grams.

Any help will be very much appreciated...it will also help my hair as im pulling it out..ha :'(

and thanks again

You need to change the weight unit definition in the module language file... for example, in (catalog)/includes/languages/english/modules/shipping/zones.php you would look for and change this line...

define('MODULE_SHIPPING_ZONES_TEXT_UNITS', 'lb(s)');

Hi stu,

just wanna say, NICE ONE BRUVA!!!!

you have just solved all my problems in one, after many sleepless nights and hair pulling situations, your contrib is the best i've seen up to now. cheers mate...i apreciate all the work you done for beginners like me.

1 thing stu...say i was to buy something quite heavy, say 13.5kg.

standard parcels (1-3 days) = 14.71

parcel force (48 hours) = 18.25

but city link (next day) is only 14.10

is this correct?

just that it seems that the cheapest is the quickest.

i know i probably done something wrong, but airmail is charging 999.00 for all weight, but the numbers are correct, this is whats in:

.1:1.1,.2:1.69,.3:2.23,.4:2.69,.5:3.19,.6:3.69,.7:4.19,.8:4.69,.9:5.19,1:5.69,1.

1:6.19,1.2:6.69,1.3:7.19,1.4:7.69,1.5:8.19,1.6:8.69,1.7:9.19,1.8:9.69,1.9:10.19,2

:10.69,99:999.

any help is apreciated.

thanks again stu

Thank you so much for this !! I've been fiddling with an installation using metric weights. I just couldn't get the postage costs to work with Table Rate at all. Now those two settings are zero it's working fine. THANK YOU :D
