X M L
thankyou very much mtechama! but i have another question. it seems the password is encrypted. i tried copying it from the other passwd file, but it doesn't seem to be working. how would I encrypt my password to store it in the file? spax
Just ask your host to setup a new username/password or do it yourself via the control panel.
X M L
I see. I'm using cpanel, where would I go to do it manually?
X M L
and isn't it generated via oscommerce inistall? one more question; i'm editing the file /.htpasswds/cart/admin/passwd should it actually be in /public_html/cart/admin ?
spax
No, the .htpasswd (no 'S' there you'll notice) shouldn't go into the same directory that you are protecting. It is normally above the root so it isn't accessible by the public. You should see an option in cPanel for password protecting. Under security? I can't remember where it is but I think it is quite obvious. If you get problems, your host will be happy to do it for you.
