NEWBIE in trouble

Recommended Posts

I am in a jam here. I told my work that I could use oscommerce to build our store. I have it installed and running. looks great but I need to get our products in there. I have the quickbooks in excel form and I also have EP setup as well as excel.php.

I just dont know what to do now. I dont get how to re-format thwe excel stuff to get it to work with either excel.php or EP. Grrrrr. I am so lost!

My boss is down my back and this seemed pretty straight forward when i was rerading on it but now I am in dire need of assistance.

Thanks in advance!

If you don't have too many products then just use the admin tool to upload them one by one. If you have lots to insert then use the Easy Populate contribution.

yeah i have about 800 to 1000 items to install. I dont even know where to start with EP. Is there something I need to do with my excel file first? Do you up load just products, then then next thing, then the next kinda cycle...?

Sorry to be so dumb to all of this and I appreciate your help!

Hi,

I feel your pain! been there done that! My advice is to use MS-Access not excel

Then google (access to mySQL) ie. http://www.kitebird.com/articles/access-migrate.html

It's key to have a perfect match of all tables/columns/etc. for this to work.

It's possible, i've added over 2600 items to our store, sometimes it is neccessary to break the products up into smaller uploads to avoid myphpAdmin from timing out. Good Luck

See Below link....

It is very important that everything is exactly the same, once you have this accomplished it's a piece of cake! once you have both sides synched, simply upload the sql text file via phpAdmin and you should be set. You might need to upload smaller batches if you have a huge DB. If your familiar with odbc, you can synch one DB to the other, so if you make an update locally it will auto synch with mySQL and visa versa--Hope that helps some! Good Luck-- :D z
