tflmike
Hi everybody! I am trying to set up the taxes for my store and I'm getting a bit confused. Basically, I only need to charge tax for the state I'm in plus the tax for the city I'm shipping to. So I'm trying to figure out how to best set that up with zones, classes and rates. Here's how I've tried to make it work: ZONE: USA Colorado CLASS: Boulder, Denver RATES: Taxable Goods 3.5% So here's the problem. I need to charge a CO state tax of 2.9% and then add additional tax based on if they're ordering from Denver (3.5%) or Boulder (3.2%). How would I set that up? Or is there a good place to find this info? THANKS!
joshbharrell
Let me know when you figure this one out, I am having the same issue with the whole state/county tax division issue in the U.S. Hi everybody! tkeats
You should look into the contrib's and help provided to Canadian users of osCommerce. We have something similiar. Federal GST - 6% (Formerly 7%) Ontario PST - 8 % Harmonized - varies Most of the Canadian provinces opted to harmonize with the federal goverment to cut costs (federal collects then disperses) so the HST could be anywhere from 6% to 15% (I dont think I've heard of it being higher) How that would be applied at the State/County/City level I am not sure but it might lead you in the right direction. Thomas Keats Rainbow Computer Systems, Ontario Canada Search terms GST, HST and VAT might be helpful ;) A signature is something that reflects its user. - The dictionary The question is not, 'to code, or not to code' the question is, 'if we do not code, are we really alive?' -- anonymous
mariavargas
You do know that the Internet Conventions, after much deliberation, decided that any business in Cyber Space, that is: an internet shop collecting funds in cyber space would be taxed where ever the funds land. That means, that if you collect all the money and deposit it in Colorado, you don't have to worry about florida or anywhere else! Just collect the tax where your money lands - if you are a cyber biz. Do your research online and you'll get latest on that! :-" Maria Vargas Let me know when you figure this one out, I am having the same issue with the whole state/county tax division issue in the U.S.
