How do i set the category and information box widths

I am using STS 4, and have uploaded a new test template onto the website. I have specified the width of the table within the template for the categories and information boxes to 170px but when the site loads they are more like double this size

 

 

i have tried to change the info box wdth in the style sheet but this also changes the specials bo and new products box on the main page
