jpweber
BACKUP your CURRENT database [lets call it DB1]... restore the old database [DB2] ... export the .products field from DB2... restore DB1 and import the .products field. Use PHPmyAdmin I only have the 1 database. This doesn't have my products field in it. I have backed it up in SQL files every other day, so I have tons of backed up SQL files. I just don't know what to do with them. You can see my site .... http://www.thevisiondepot.com ... it's a mess. But why back up my current database when that's the one missing the products field? I'm confused, but I can follow instructions if someone would let me know what to do. jpweber
I did it, but some of my products are missing. Am I SOL, or is there a way I can retrieve them? If you just replaced the DB with the last backup... and didn't backup the current ... yeah, SOL. My host does a daily backup everyday... so check with your host quickly to see if they have one. I just found out the probably cause of my problems. Things are much better, but sometimes I can't add products properly, and sometimes I can't even log into my ADMIN properly. I had added a module, MVS, and installed the fxfreight.sql file. It looks like this: ALTER TABLE `products` ADD `products_fxf_class` VARCHAR( 3 ) DEFAULT '050' NOT NULL , ADD `products_fxf_desc` VARCHAR( 100 ) , ADD `products_fxf_nmfc` VARCHAR( 100 ) , ADD `products_fxf_haz` TINYINT DEFAULT '0' NOT NULL , ADD `products_fxf_freezable` TINYINT DEFAULT '0' NOT NULL ; I have no idea if this is what caused all the problems, but if so, I don't know how to undo it, as my knowledge of SQL is limited at best. Do you have any suggestions, assuming I'm on the right path? Thanks! jpweber
But I look in my table, products, and none of those things (products_fxf_class, products_fxf_dexc, etc) are there anymore, so maybe my host undid this when they restored the database? But it's still not working properly yet. PD_Steve
If your host had a backup of your site, check to see if they also run weekly and monthly backups. Its pretty much a standard function in WHM and it sounds like they might be running this. Ask them to send you the files for the weekly and monthly and roll back to before you installed this update. On the servers I have I always store daily, weekly and monthly backups on a secondary hard-drive config just incase this kind of incident happens to any of my clients. I have a feeling your host may do the same. Oh, dont get your host to rollback, just ask them to send you the compressed backup. They should store via account so yours will be a seperate backup to any other accounts they run. Its better to be able to examine your own files so you can see which is the correct one to use (the average OsCommerce site is not that large so it should be possible to mail to you or plonk on your account somewhere so you can download) My Toolbox: Crimson Editor, Adobe Photoshop CS2.0, Expression Web, Macromedia Suite 8.0, Cinema 4D, Nvu.
