Installing OS Commerce locally

I downloaded XAMPP as was suggested to me (which works fine), with the intention of installing OS Commerce on my local PC to play around with it and get comfortable with it. I downloaded the latest version of OS Commerce as well. While trying to create the database and get all the files in the correct spot on the local PC things got a little confusing. I was trying to follow the OS Commerce install guide, but substitute where necessary for the local install.

I still need to get the database created and was wondering if there is a guide for this local install anywhere or whether someone might be kind enough to walk through it quickly with me on a messenger program or something. As I understand it, it should only take a few minutes, but by not being familiar with database creation, it's slow going for me. Thanks in advance!

If you open up phpmyadmin (http://127.0.0.1/phpmyadmin/) you will see a box that says "Create new database" Just type in what you wish to name it and press go - an empty database will be created for you.

You also need to create a new user, give that user a password and grant full priveleges to him/her. Take a note of the db name, username and password so you can input it into osC.
