AnthonyV7
I uploaded the catalog with ascII as instructed in my htdocs folder. I am not sure how to use the phpMyAdmin tool.... So I tried to open my browser and went to http://myserver.url/catalog/install and I the following came up: The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request. The script had an error or it did not produce any output. If there was an error, you should be able to see it in the error log. What's going on here? Thanks in advance
♥Vger
Did you set up a blank database before you tried to run the install? Vger

AnthonyV7
I found the info in your signature but I'm still kind of confused how to create a blank database. Do I do so with phpMyAdmin type of program?
jhsands
If you have CPanel, go into MySQL databases and create a new database. Add a user with full privileges to the database. If you do not use CPanel, then in PHPMyAdmin you will click on "create new database" If you have command line it is much easier ;) BACKUP your current files before editing. Did I mention to BACKUP your current files, first? "I'm not a hero, I'm a firefighter; it is my job to save lives. I'm a Jesus Christ Firefighter saving souls from the flames!" AnthonyV7
have you try http://myserver.com/catalog/install/install.php Yes. When I do that the following occurs: The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request. The script had an error or it did not produce any output. If there was an error, you should be able to see it in the error log. So I need to know how to add a new database first. I'm extremely new at this. AnthonyV7
Ok I set up a new database. Now how do I ensure it is blank? When adding a new database it requires a name and login. I put the same name in both and now it shows my database. I tried uploading the software and going to http://myserver.com/catalog/install and I'm getting the same error. Also, how do you set permissions on your folder to 777? Do all the files need to be uploaded via ascIII?

AnthonyV7
I've done everything... 1. Create a blank database via your web hosting control panel. 2. Download the osCommerce 2.2 MS2 zip file from the downloads section of www.oscommerce.com, unzip it and extract the 'catalog' folder. 3. If you want your shop to be available at http://www.yourdomain.com/catalog then upload the whole of the catalog folder to the root directory of your website via FTP. If you want the site to be available at http://www.yourdomain.com then just upload all of the contents of the catalog folder, but not the folder itself. 4. Make sure that the permissions on all of the folders are set to 755, and if that does not work then set them to 777. Make sure that the includes/configure.php file and the admin/includes/configure.php file are set to 777 for the duration of the install. Once the install is complete reset to 644, 444, or 400 depending on your server setup. And I still am getting the same error message. I am using PowWeb. Do any of you guys use them and run osCommerce successfully? I am also setting the permissions via powweb's online ftp.
