EatDVD
Hey, we've just opened up our new dvd store (http://www.eatdvd.co.uk) and we were looking for some opinions. What we're after: a) ease of use etc B) prices c) anything else what we dont want: a) telling us to put a skin on etc Any opinions would be extremely helpful in improving the site :) Please be aware that we dont have the ability to stock very new DVD's as our supplier doesnt get them :( Thanks. http://www.eatdvd.co.uk
abra123cadabra
Actually, there's only the usual stuff to be said about your shop: 1 - Your conditions of use are pretty short and don't contain the usual things like disclaimer etc. 2 - Your site lacks the business details like business name and address, phone number, email. Which country are you in, who are you? 3 - It's more or less the out of the box osC with added logo and new icons. You only sell in ? and the only language available is English so I would recommend removing those two boxes. 4 - Your images take up too much bandwidth and could look better when displayed as thumbnails. Try a thumbnail contribution for this. 5 - I would loose the requests since and the date added. 6 - No info about shipping costs. Don't want to create an account to figure this out. 7 - The standard buttons don't match the icons and logo in the header. That's about it. No SSL. No info about payment options. You don't want to hear about changing "skins" so I'll skip the bit about adding colour to match the header etc. etc. The big question is would I buy from you? No, I wouldn't. Mainly because I have no clue if you are a serious business and secondly because your shop doesn't have that look and feel to get me interested. Why should I buy from you and not from your competitor? abra The First Law of E-Commerce: If the user can't find the product, the user can't buy the product. MEDIAZONE
Ok As another DVD Store im telling you now people will not touch you with a bardgepole. Reasons being: 1. Who are you? 2. Why should i buy from you? 3. What do you have that Play, Loaded247, DVD.co.uk,Enterprisesdvd, dvdworld dont? I didnt see anything on your site about FREE SHIPPING. didnt see any wow factor about the site, infact i clicked on and off again. The site has NO consistancy to it, Some stock features some inputed features, needs to be one or the other. I wish you all the luck in the world. P.S. It is ALWAYS worth putting what Region the dvds are, also if you are taking the reviews from another site watch out as alot of them have tracking hidden within info. Many Thanks Simon Your Media Zone Remember to ALWAYS BACKUP Life is like box of chocs - You never know what your gonna get! Do you feel lucky punk? Well do ya! P-A-R-T WHY COS I GOTTA! EatDVD
Hmm, im amazed neither of you noticed the big image at the top saying free shipping :S Ill have to do something about that. Anyway, as for who i am, ill add all that information tommorow as its getting late here. All the dvd's are region 2, its on the site, but maybe not clear enough. Well both of your comments have given me a lot to think about, and i can see theres quite a few things i need to change - its always good to get an outside opinion as its rather hard to see past your own work and see the faults. Cheers guys.
Guest
Hmm, im amazed neither of you noticed the big image at the top saying free shipping :S Ill have to do something about that. Hi, just reviewed your site... I didn't notice the free shipping thing either. LOL... I had to reopen the page and look around for it... then I saw it... hidding below your store name/logo but off to the right but not quite in the right-side column yet. I'd put it in your left column above the Payment box. I definately noticed the PayPal box as I was scrolling down. I like the largely spaced catagories but didn't like the overload of pictures and options. My eyes didn't know where to look first, there wasn't really any flow or direction. Lots of pictures to look at.

Must have overlooked that one which means that it didn't catch my eye and/or it's not where I would expect it to be. abra The First Law of E-Commerce: If the user can't find the product, the user can't buy the product. EatDVD
Yea, i imagine it could be an overload of information at lower resolutions, maybe i need to think about that when im working on the next bit. From all the comments so far ive decided to re-work the entire site. Once ive done the new, less cluttered, version of the site, ill let you guys knows. Thanks for the help. EatDVD
Ok, i decided to change colours and things on the website, and its looking a lot better. Done so far: 1) Removed language box and currencies box, as advised. 2) Removed "loaded this many times" from the bottom, as advised. 3) Made the colours match our logo throughout 4) Added a thumbnail contrib to sort out all the huge images 5) Cut down the amount of featured items to 6, rather than 10 To do: 1) Add information about where we are, who we are, why buy from us etc 2) Sort out a few more graphics 3) Make payment options a little more clear 4) Replace the welcome text with an image stating the same thing 5) Move the free shipping logo over to the left hand side so as its more noticeable 6) Change all buttons to match the site logo/theme Have i missed anything? Thanks very much, Daniel. http://www.eatdvd.co.uk
Guest
You have a google ad block. Thats a bad idea. First off all, you probably dont have enough traffic to make a decent amount of money from it (otherwise, why sell dvds at all). And secondly, you're just putting your competition's ads on your page. EatDVD
Maybe, it does make a bit of cash actually, but not enough to justify it being there. I think ill remove it. Also moved the cards box over to the right hand side, showing we accept paypal and credit cards. Cheers.
