Guest
My page is loading kind of slow (http://www.pm-fl.com/catalog). I am assuming it is because of the file sizes of the pictures. Can someone suggest a good method to get the pages to load faster? Thanks!

Guest
I was thinking there would be a faster way to do this than manually editing each graphic. Especially the images that are in the catalog. I thought I had read about this the other day, but now I can't find the post.
d4funky1
you need to get macromedia fireworks mx. you can simply do a batch process on the folder where all your images are stored and choose which process you want to run. I had the same problem and over 5000 images to manipulate!!! worked a treat. Then I use 'ON THE FLY' which automatically creates a thumbnail of the image which in turn reduces the loading time, whilst keeping the pop-up image at it's largest. take a look here http://www.fancydressretail.co.uk/catalog and click on any of the products and then on the enlarge image link. Guest
What is 'ON THE FLY?' Sounds like just what I need.
d4funky1
just to add and show you an example of it: Your product 'BMR Tubular rear control arms 05+ Mustang W/Poly bushings' The image is a file size of 52.56 kB wether you are looking at the product description page or the pop-up or even just the link http://www.precisionporting.com/catalog/im...CAMustang05.jpg On my site the product: http://www.fancydressretail.co.uk/catalog/...roducts_id=7929 Has a home page image size of 7.34 kB a product description page size of 20.61 kB and a pop-up image size of 17.91 kB As you can see the images are not distorted like some of yours and the loading time is quick. Guest
I have never used the contributions before (I'm new at this stuff - if you couldn't tell) lol. Anyway, how do you use the contributions? I just downloaded one that adds a specials module to the index.php file so that our specials will show on the main page. In the installation file, it says to do the following - Copy the /catalog/includes/module/product_specials.php to your site. Run SQL in your phpMyAdmin or similar database tool. What does rund SQL in you phpMyAdmin mean? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as I see that there are several contributions that I need to include in my website to do some of the things that I want to do. Thanks for your help! Guest
I just read someone else's post about how to run an SQL file in phpMyAdmin and I followed their directions and got my Specials_Module to work. Now all I have to do is tweak the formatting in the stylesheet so that it looks right. I will try the ON THE FLY contrib that you suggest now. Thanks for your help! Guest
Quick question about ON THE FLY... Which file set do I want to use? Would it be the one entitled "'On the Fly' Auto Thumbnailer v 1.5" by Nate posted on Dec 15 2005. Just looks a little confusing as to which one is the correct one to use. Thanks for the help!
