Q. links to "more info". Do I need to track session?

Q1. Other than providing basic relative urls in the "more details" links is there anything more needed to make sure items previously added to the shopping cart will be there when the customer returns to osC?

Q2. If so, are their any contributions for this purpose or what do I need to know?

Q3. Is there any special way needed to link back to the osC product page when the visitor is through viewing the 'more details' html page? (the "return to item in catalog" link).

I have searched the forums for help using these keywords: link, session, html

I am almost ready to go live to upgrade my current website from straight html to include the osCommerce catalog and shopping cart. I would like to keep my old html product pages live and use them with the "more details" links on the catalog product pages. Both the old and new pages will be at the same domain.

There are two primary reasons for doing this:

1. I can provide a dedicated page to product details with lots of pictures when needed, and extensive details, specifications, etc.; and

2. continue to benefit from the fact these pages are indexed on the search engines and bring a significant number of buyers to the site.

I would keep these older pages at the same location (url) but of course will need to clean them of old links, navigation menus, etc.

I'm wondering if I need to do anything special when I link to these pages from the product pages in osCommerce. It would seem that we need to track the session id someway, but I'm not sure.

I saw several contributions for links, but none I found appear to be designed for this purpose. I understand I should use relative urls (not absolute urls). I do not plan to implement cookies, but can if necessary.

Any guidance gratefully appreciated.

Ron
