meanjeanslo
Hi, I am REALLY new to using php and osCommerce. I feel really dumb, but I can't find exactly how I get to the Administration Tool. I see lots of documentation about what to do when I get there, but I don't know how I'm supposed to log into it. Help, please!
voxmaris
All that you do is type in the URL to your osCommerce folder... http://www.yourdomain.com/osCommerce/admin and then add "admin" after that. Then you should get a dialog box to come up where you log in.
Guest
Just in case you don't know... the username and password you use for admin are what you set when you installed Oscommerce....

My osCommerce wasn't setup in the way it is described here. My ISP offered it with their hosting package so that I only had to click a button and it completed the installation for me, adding the appropriate code. I removed the oscommerce file from my hosting folder and tried reinstalling to see if it would make a difference. I still have the same problem. Any ideas? Maybe there is a file somewhere that I need to modify with corrected account information?

Im getting the same error message, I've installed an re-installed OSC, when I get the Unable to Connect message if I press F5 then it seems to let me through but this isn't ideal and will no-doubt put potencial customers off. Does anyone know of a fix?

Does anyone know of a fix? post your error_log from /catalog/, /osCommerce/, or whatever you use. That will help me see what's going on. Other people may know the answer outright, but I have to have help to help. :) BACKUP your current files before editing. Did I mention to BACKUP your current files, first? Here is the error: [10-Aug-2006 21:13:25] PHP Warning: mysql_connect(): Access denied for user: '?DBUSER?@wsvr1' (Using password: YES) in /www/oscommerce/admin/includes/functions/database.php on line 19 So, it looks like the password, etc. needs to be defined somewhere. Other people may know the answer outright, but I have to have help to help. :) So, the problem appears to be that the config.php file stored in admin/includes did not load with the rest of my osCommerce files, which is why it can't connect to the database. So, I downloaded another copy of the osCommerce zip onto my own hard drive and copied the config.php file into the folder. I've updated the login user, password, etc., but am not sure how I should direct the paths for the other folders. Can anyone provide me with an example? I'd truly appreciate it! Well, I guess that the FOURTH time was the charm! I deleted the oscommerce folder from my hosting service and ran the install for the fourth time. This time it appears that the correct configure files were installed. I had e-mailed the ISP to ask them if they could help with the problem. They said they unfortunately did not provide support on this. However, I don't know if they changed the way the install happened, or what, but my configure.php file finally showed up in the admin/includes folder. The user name, database, password, etc. still did not get installed properly, but I was able to pull the configure.php file from the webserver, correct that information, and then YIPPEE!! I finally have access to the admin screens! What a relief! Thanks to those who took the time to respond and I hope that nobody else has this problem.
