fusionproductions
Hi, Have a client that has a bunch of (after payment) downloadable files. There is a section of the existing site that has a subscription to an area of the site where people can download file as much as they want for 1 year. The bad thing is the owner emails a password to the client to access this part of the site the pasword is the same for everyone and there is no way to limit the term of acces to that part of the site. Here is my idea...place the html doc in the download folder...in the attrabutes section link an attribute to the product (quick coach $99.00) download:1 year subscription and add 365 in the days to downloa. ... And in the file name instead of fille.zip put the path to the html dock that contains the link. I asume this would work...have not tried it but I know if a file name ends in .zip it automatically wants to download. Here is the problem...if the link works the address bar will show the link and this link would not be password protected if typed directly in the http:// area. This also is the case if you know the path to the download file for anything else in the download folder. ie site/store/download/file.zip. Is ther anyway to protect the download folder with a password setup by a buyer in OS. Any ideas would be great. In pincipal it sounds like a workaround. Have looked at the subscription/download contribs but did not find anything that would work for what I need. The members area curently set up has a download button under the photo which is nice. I could just allow access to all files in the download folder but the only thing that shows in the order history is the file name...that would make it hard for the buyer to see what they are downloading before they do
