bobsi18
Hi there all... I've just noticed in my 'who's online' section of my site that someone is hitting the homepage, with the referrer 'http://www.hyperspin.com/monitored-by-user-altweb'. It's happened a lot - in the past 24 hours there have been 150 hits from the same referrer (and it looks like the same IP address). Wondering if it's happened to anyone else? I've had a quick look at the site, don't really understand it or what's going on. ~bobsi18~

We have installed a BAN IP contribution which works very well when this sort of thing happens. It's been along time since it was installed but I thinks it's this one..... http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,2530 Hope you sort it Derek

Unfortunatly, I have also noticed that the IP address has changed - at the moment there are 5 'people' browsing our site, with hyperspin as the referrer, and their IP addys are all the same, but they are different to the ones that were happening yesterday... I have had contact with the company, they said they are going to investigate, but I don't hold my breath. I'll be installing the contribution you suggested (or one similar) - to try and help with the problem. thanks ~bobsi18~

I contacted my host (who I've been with for about 5 months), and they said that yes, they were monitoring the sites to keep an eye on uptime. Ultimately, they were hitting my site every 5 minutes which resulted in over 550 hits, and more than doubled my bandwidth usage. I complained, and they said that This has now been removed from monitoring the IP your account is hosted on.Should you have any outages with your account you'll need to contact us as we won't be monitoring it. . So the hits have stopped, but my stats are buggered for the month, and I have to keep an eye on my site for outages (which isn't a huge problem, as I check emails at least 5 times a day, so I can see pretty quickly if the site is down). ~bobsi18~
