os-commerce stopped order confirmation

As of yesterday, our site for some reason stopped sending an order confirmation via email to the store owner's email and is not keeping a record of a customer's order, although we are receiving verification from Paypal that the person paid for an order...

Any ideas as to why that would suddenly happen?

My guess is, that your server is being blocked by some spamfilter, e.g. cbl.abuseat.org or sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org due to an incorrect header - or, most probably, a bad HELO. Or because someone is spamming og sending badly formatted mails through the same gateway as you.

Wait a couple of days and see if your mailer-deamon returns the order-confirmation. If it is listed on abuseat, you'll get a link telling you more about the problem.

At least, the whole server is blocked. Worst case is, that if your server is placed behind a NAT, a whole bunch of servers passing their mails through the same NAT will be blocked.

The latter is my case, having my servers placed in a hosting centre where some other server is sending bad mails and getting the rest of us blocked, I spend every other day trying to get our own shops and forums off the hook. Just to find out the next day, that our NAT has been blocked again

Thanks for your reply. No email confirmations have yet been returned, but I will wait and see.

Do you have an idea as to why the order itself is not being saved in the os data base? We have several where we received the Paypal payment confirmation, but our store doesn't show an order placed by that customer.

Sorry, I overlooked that part, and I can't think of a connection between the two. Sounds more like a problem in the checkout, then.

You could rule out the mail question by registering as a new customer under a different mail-address (preferably one at another ISP) and trying to send an email to yourself from the admin.

If that works, you'll have to look in your chekout files (I'm not really familiar with PayPal).
