Need Help getting rid of .gif files

There are stock .gif files that I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get rid of. They appear to be in the catalog/images files as "table_background_default.gif", etc. I cannot find any documentation on how to remove these from the site. I printed out the 2.2 Milestone 2 documentation as well as searched these forums and cannot find the answer. I have changed the banner and gotten rid of the pictures that are in the header area, started customizing the site using the stylesheet. I even found a solution in here with blank .gif files to replace some stock images, but that answer did not fix this problem. These are the stock images that appear top right hand corner of the body of the catalog. It seems there is a different picture for each area of the site, the index, contact us, etc. Can someone please provide me with a link to some help or the solution to this problem? It may be obvious somewhere, but I can't seem to see it anywhere. Thank you so much.

Please allow me to answer my own question:

Make sure you copy the images referred to in the folowing link into the "catalag/images" directory - it won't work if you copy them into the wrong directory. (I am a little tired this evening.)

Thank you so much for your help here! This site, this forum and this e-commerce solution is really amazing.
