My Store

I know now that I should not have been too eager and should have downloaded a template system first, but I had already spent hours inputing hundreds of products. All I have managed to accomplish are some basic stylesheet changes:

http://www.politicalcellar.com

What I'd like to do/fix:

1. Move in the right and left columns and center the store with the header color on the sides.

2. Make the catalog box easier to read (buttons?)

3. Get the pictures back out of whack.

3. Add text to the index page. When I try to go to town and start typing between the quote marks (as shown in the 1000's of tutorials out there) I always end up with an error message.

4. Move the shopping cart box to the upper right header

5. Add a box on the right for the log in and/or create an account (Take it out of the middle)

6. Add a box on the right for current ebay auctions.

I should have figured that out before adding all the products. I appreciate any comments or helpful tips.

As you can tell I've taken the plunge and mesed around with several mods. Although it functions, I cannot figure out how to make the contrib from Loginbox_best look like it's promised picture:

Thanks for any advice!

I can't help you with the loginbox but I can give you some feedback.

1. Your shipping & returns, conditons of use and privacy policies are empty.

2. No physical business address or phone number.

3. No further information about you apart from the info on index that you are a member of APIC and a collector of the items you sell.

4. Most of your products lack a description.

There's not much more to say. The layout is coming along nicely even without a template. Just keep working on adding contributions for new features etc.

I agree with abra

you may also want to add auto thumbnailer with gd support as your page load times are a little slooooowwwww. The layout does look nice and clean. Also I would remove the category count as well and maybe a category box enhancement contrib as well.

You can also add the date if you need it to the top in the header and add some of the text above your new products box to even up the page a little.

Actually I think in this case the category count might be a good thing. Usually it indicates where you have a lot or almost not products so it could keep customers from checking out all the categories.

As you are a collector of these items who happens to sell them as well, it gives an indication of your area of expertise and it might also indicate availablility of items from a certain period of time. Maybe add some more information about this in the category descriptions.
