mhunter
Hi This cart only needs to charge tax in Texas, and it's the one rate for the whole state. Should be simple. I configured the Tax Zone with Texas. I configured the Tax Class with Taxable Goods. So, my configuration for the Tax Rate is: Tax Class: Taxable Goods Zone: Texas Rate: 8.25% And that's it. Why then, was an order being shipped to New York charged 8.25% tax ??? I check the docs and nothing seems blatently wrong. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks. Guest
Make sure you have TX as a zone not a folder. In your tax zones click details make sure you have texas beneath and not all countries/states.
mhunter
Hi Enigma1 Thanks so much for your reply. Well I checked and re-entered under Tax Zone. There is a Folder Texas, but when I click on Details, you were right, it was for All Countries. So I changed that to US and Texas, however when testing another state, it is still charging me the Texas Tax ... Initially after seeing your post, I deleted the folder/Tax Zone of Texas and started over. However when you insert a Tax Zone, it does show up as a folder ... I must be missing something here ... :(
Guest
ok, first you should create a folder called texas there is no point. Instead you could create a folder called 8P25 since that will identify all zones with 8.25% tax. Then click details add country usa, state texas. In your tax classes make sure you have the taxable goods or at least one tax class that every product from your catalog is associated with. Finally in the Tax Rates You should create an entry so Tax Class: Taxable Goods Zone: 8P25 Tax Rate: 8.25% In your osc admin->configuration->my store->display prices with tax set it to false. Create a test account with usa/cali, place a test order to make sure no tax is added. Repeat with another account us/texas. You should see in that case the tax being applied. mhunter
thanks enigma, however, I have followed these instructions on every point and it is still charging 8.25 on all states. its weird since I have not had this problem before. Tax Zone - folder: 8p25, country: US, Zone: Texas Tax Class - Taxable Goods Tax Rate - tax class: Taxable Goods, zone: 8p25, Tax Rate: 8.25%, Desc: Tex Tax, Priority
