Can't install, Access denied for user: when connecting to database

Hi,

 

I have tried to install oscommerce many times, but each time when i enter the database information i get an error:

 

Access denied for user: '********@********* (Using password: YES)

 

I have talked to my host, and they set me up with a new password but it still occurs.

 

Any help would be wonderful

There are several things that need to be set up correctly:

 

1. Your DB_SERVER needs to be the correct name of the database server you're set up to connect with. This is sometimes, but not always, localhost.

2. Your DB_SERVER_USERNAME needs to be the correct user name for your account.

3. Your DB_SERVER_PASSWORD needs to be the correct password.

4. Your host must have the database configured properly so that your DB_SERVER_USERNAME can connect from the machine it is using to the DB_SERVER you specified.

 

1, 2, and 3 require you to get the proper settings from your host. 4 requires that your host has your account configured correctly. Unfortunately, there's not anything else that can be done. You'll have to keep talking with your host to figure out the issue.
