websydaisy
New to OSC but eager to learn: I have a client who came to me with a web site that has already been designed, and asked me to add OSCommerce to it. So I have spent two days getting everything installed and configured, no problem, but I cannot for the life of me figure out if it is even really possible to add OSCommerce to it after the fact. Is there any documentation or are there help topics about this? I have been searching and digging, and it seems like people mostly are just changing the css, text messages, or logo, which I know how to do. It is taking an existing html page and then inserting OSCommerce into it that has me stumped. Thank you so much!

Guest
you need to do some work to integrate the template but certainly is possible. You must have the various slices for header/footer/left-right navs etc so you can work at one section at a time. For instance get the slices for the header see how the osc has the checkout/account etc links, port the slices as separate images and setup the html tables. Similarly for the other sections. The left nav would require custom categories box to insert the categories as images instead of text.
jasonabc
The beauty of OSC is that is flexible enough to allow you to turn it into pretty much anything you want. Applying existing website designs are actually pretty easy because the code on the existing site has already been written for you. You just have to decide where to "slice" up the existing site elements and drop them into OSC. I just finished an example of exactly what you are looking to do (just to show you that's it really is possible). Here is the original website: http://www.jpmorganchaseopen.com and here's the OSC store - integrated nicely into their website: http://store.jpmorganchaseopen.com cheers Jason My Contributions: Paypal Payflow PRO | Rollover Category Images | Authorize.net Invoice Number Fix
heritage777
Don't know if you solved your problem meanwhile or not... was browsing and found your post. I added our os-commerce site years after we already had a website up and running. I created a separate directory for oc-commerce and just "link" to it from our home page and other pages. Hope this helps. New to OSC but eager to learn: I have a client who came to me with a web site that has already been designed, and asked me to add OSCommerce to it.
