Adding a text field

Hi There

This is my first post so go easy on the noob!

 

I would like to add a text field to certain products.

 

I sell motorcycle products and certain products are available for all types of bikes, so rather than trying to list every bike/year/model etc as a drop down option via the product attributes id like to simply add text fieds for the clients to type the details.

 

Is this possible?

 

I dont wont to use the comments section at checkout, i need to do it at the individual products page.

Thank you that looks like what i need.

 

I dont use myphpadmin so is there a way to manually edit my db? I dont even know where to find the db!! Sorry for asking stupid questions, im very new to all this.
