expressman
Just installed OSC and was wondering why the admin area does not have password. Do i need to protect this dir from the server?
Wetpants
If you read any OS commerce instructions, it should warn you to protect your admin section. I think the safest is .htaccess, but there are other ways. Plenty of info on how to secure web directories, search the forum, don't have the instructions off hand. mrphpmaster
Alternative for .htaccess is to install this contribution http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contri...ch,admin+access but before you install this contribution, you should have to back up your shopping cart. Be careful of what you doing. Use that contribution at your own risk regards Just installed OSC and was wondering why the admin area does not have password. Jaguars
:D Hello you may find the quickest way to password protect your "Admin panel" is to go into your server directory and add a pass word to the "Admin" folder or what ever name you have it called. This may be done through, your hosting company "Cpanel" or similar if you have a hosting service provider, they can always be contacted and tell you how to use this service. The other suggestion you may wish to digest the information before installing. Dave
