drod7399
Can someone direct me to a simple to understand step-by-step on how to set up product attributes for newcombers who know nothing about this stuff? I have a belt in brown, black and burgundy, in small, medium and large. All the same price of $30. I also have swimsuits in small, medium, large all different prices. I tried it and put in: belt, small, black, 30.00+ and did the same for medium and large. When i go to test it, i got the three attributes but there was no way for the customer to select either option and the checkout page showed all three totaling to $120.00. I understand i need to change the $30 to $0+ but that still doesn't explain how the customer will choose which option (1, 2, or 3 NOT all 3.) Can someone help me please, thanks. Wetpants
http://www.oscommerce.info/docs/english/e_...attributes.html Does that help?
drod7399
http://www.oscommerce.info/docs/english/e_...attributes.html Does that help? No it does not because i'm using OS version 2.2.2 and i get a different screen all together when i go into product atributes. Is 2.2.2 the latest version? I don't see 'attribute groups' anywhere on my screen/version. The way it works now, is there is no way for the customer to choose a particular option of the product. Also, in other posts i see where folks talk about a buy now button, i don't have that either. The product and description comes up with an add to cart button. Lastly,.... when we download from the contributions, where do we save the file to work with OSC? What file should it go into? I'd like to have my attribute choices show as radio buttons. Thanks. Guest
I personally download the contribution files to my deskstop. I then open the file, read the "readme.txt" file which typically has all the installation instructions within. Just follow the instructions. They usually entail: replacing snipets of codes, adding snipets of code, uploading completely new files (specific to the contribution), and running a .sql file (in some contributions). And many contributions have a support thread in the Contribution section of this forum.

Thanks, but again, I know nothing about websites, codes, etc. Where exactly do i replace/add the codes, files, etc. ? After i entered a couple of products, i go back and paste the html into my site. Is this where i replace/add them, but that can't be right because that's after the fact. Is 2.2.2 the latest version and this is what you're using? Wetpants
OScommerce hasnt been updated in many years, besides contribs, so yeah, i think thats the 'latest' version. The attributes was confusing for me at first, but I just followed the steps and got a pull down select menu so custimers could choose which version of the product to buy, works ok for me. I'm not sure what html you have to 'go back' to and paste. Youre not trying to run oscommerce on your home computer are you? As for contribs, they are all differen't, you have read the instructions very carefully. It will tell you, which file you have to edit and which line needs to be replaced with what. Things are alot easier ofcourse if you know a little about websites, codes, but it's not impossible to figure out for a novice.
