Jack_mcs
Yes, it supports it but your host may not. You can enable it in your includes/configure.php file, after installing the certificate on your server, of course. Jack_mcs
You're wasting your time trying to test it. When you get a host, they may provide a free certificate. If not, you will need to purchase one. That needs to be installed on the server. How that is done varies with the server. Once it is installed, you can test it by going to https://www.yoursite.com. If it works, then all you need do is setup your configure file. In rare cases, due to the host, some code in oscommerce needs to be changed to have the ssl work. However, you can't test that until you are actually on the host - thus the waste of time. Jack_mcs
Not all hosts offer a free certificate, some will let you have a certificate you purchased but at a high cost and some won't even let you have one at all. So you need to ask the host first what their policy is regarding ssl certificates. If they have a shared one that is free to use and if you can purchase your own and use it. If the latter, how much do they charge to install it. If you want a private certificate, which is the better way to go, then you need to buy that from a company that sells them (som hosting companies do). Just be careful. A basic certificate costs $20/year and, if you have to pay to have it installed, it should cost more than $10 or $20.
