DysfunctionalCustoms
I am trying to open and edit a file in the file manager, and I get this message Error: I can not write to this file. Please set the right user permissions on: /home/dysfunct/public_html/osCommerce/catalog//account_edit.php thats the way it is with all files, and I cannot find where to change the permissions. Its on IPowerWeb server Thanks, Mario Aldayuz Dysfunctional Customs
jasonabc
Try and avoid using web based File Manager's to edit your files. This will cause all sorts of problems. Instead - use an FTP program to transfer files between your web server and your computer. Then you can edit the files locally in a text editor, before FTPing your changes back up to your webserver. DysfunctionalCustoms
I know that most likely there is a quicker way to find this out, but I can wait, would you mind explaining how I would go about doing that? and if possible can I use dreamweaver to edit the pages, I can write HTML/Java/CF/PHP so thats not a problem. Thanks
jasonabc
erm..... you know Java, ColdFusion, PHP and HTML but you don't know how to FTP..?? You can use Dreamweaver to edit files - my personal choice is HomeSite - it's the industry standard code editor. Great for front-end coding (HTML), server-side programming (PHP) and stylesheets (CSS). It's a superb tool for developing OSC stores. Any text editor will do though - use Notepad if you have to. Use FileZilla or WS_FTP - they are both good FTP clients. The FTP login info will be in your account letter from Ipower.
