Hardware categories in /home directory

Hi, i would like to know what is it needed to show hardware categories in the website home directory above the "New Products", maybe theres already some contribution for this or something, but i have no idea :blush: , sry my ignorance. Btw, i have oscommerce installed on the root directory.

It sounds like the same problem I am having. I'm new at this too.

 

In the demo selecting the category Hardware opens a page that shows an icon for all of the subcategories. All of the Demo categories work this way.

 

When I enter my own categories and products, it does not work that way. If I select the a category; it opens a page that has a heading that says "Lets see what we have here"

 

This seems to come with a variable - cpath - which is set in a script called application_top.php. For now I would like to be able to set this at a high level, with out manipulating the HTML, that may not be possible.

 

I haven't search yet this post was "right on top" so I did some cherry picking.

and if i want that hardware categories shows on the 1st page (Home) i have to press first on Hardware, going from http://domain.com (Home) to http://domain/index.php?cPath=1, and i want it also in http://domain.com (Home), got it? :thumbsup:

I think the demo catalog works that way because it has subcategories. Most of us just have categories and products so we don't see those icons.

 

Try adding a subcategory and see what happens.

I have the subcategories -- My demo works as the one above with the demo categories i.e. hardware. The categories I have don't say "Categories" with the subsequent category icons. It say "Let's see what we have here" then it says there are no products to display.
