Silvergren Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Could someone please explain in exact detail and order, how I would change the password and user name for my oscommerce store? My site was built by someone else, and now I get a fatal error when I try to email these individuals. So, please any help would be appreciated. Silvergren
Jack_mcs Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 It depends on what kind of login method you are using. If it is .htaccess, you can probably change it from your hosts controll panels. If not, see if there is a password forgotten link on the login and use that. Silvergren Posted July 23, 2006 Author Posted July 23, 2006 Thank you for responding Jack. The only way I was shown to log in is to do the www.blahblahblah.com/catalog/admin. My host provider godaddy does not have a control panel for oscommerce, nor much in the way of panels to use the site. Do you know how I can change the password and username, so no one else has access to my site? Thank you
Jack_mcs Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 You need to know what method you are using to protect it. When you get the login window, does it have a Password Forgotten link? If not, then you need to replace your .htaccess and .htpasswd files. I can give you instructions but it will require you to be able to find those. Are you able to ftp to your site? Jack No Jack it does not. I get a square box that has Connect to www.blahblah.com then shows an image with keys, -next blah blah Store Admin User name: [________] Password: [________] and a little box to click that has "Remember my password" and two buttons, Ok Cancel
Silvergren Posted July 23, 2006 Author Posted July 23, 2006 Oh and yes I do have ftp access, in case it makes a difference my ftp password is different then the oscommerce password
Jack_mcs Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 It sounds like you are using .htaccess to protect your admin. I will send you a link to a site to generated new files but you should check your control panel first to see if such an option exists on it since that would be easier.
