Guest Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 I have more items to put up and am doing it later today. I have to do the sales thing. This is a heavily modified store. I am looking for feedback. Giftsandcraftmall
♥14steve14 Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 If your store is heasvily modded, can you please tell me what you have done, as i am finding it hard to find anything that is not standard osc. You text size changes on your sell with us page. I dont seem able to find your contact details. Within your totes categories you have all broken images. Just a box with a red x. Your product descriptions are very short. They do not tell me much about the item that i am expected to purchase from you. Who are "DiligentCNS.com" This name crops up in your about us page quite often, so i can only assume that you have copied there page. At least change their name to yours. Also on this page you havent defined the heading. REMEMBER BACKUP, BACKUP AND BACKUP
radders Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Well I hate to say this but the only part of the site that seems finished is the header which is quite pleasant. Personally I find the basketweave background oppressive and a bit scary, like a whole load of worms crawling around the web page. A monochrome site doesn't really work for me without bright sparkly images. It is not enough just to use the words black sparkling when the image is grey and dull.

Also on this page you havent defined the heading. diligentCNS is the company that owns the site, which is my wifes computer company. I must have done a good job at making the list (in my signature) of mods seemless if it looks like a stock osc site. I have focused on function and not looks currently. As looks are a little easier to execute. This site is a virtual mall for gifts and crafts people. The buy slots ... etc....easier to read the Sell with us Page. Thanks for you input Mark

Your are right, the stock of items is low because I had a several sales calls to make right after I posted. I hope to fill up the stock. Today, the site owner likes the basket weave so i am stuck there. "A monochrome site doesn't really work for me without bright sparkly images. It is not enough just to use the words black sparkling when the image is grey and dull." This confuses me. It sounds like you are talking about image quality of the products listed relative to the site. Have I got this correct?
draxion Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Take a look at the page description and tiltles when reviewing a product. Might want to fix that.

Guest Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 I don't hav e aproblem with the basketweave background as such, but I do have a problem with the fact that it doesn't tile nicely. There are black lines between the horizontal joins, and the vertical joins simply don't line up with the pattern. I think you need to recrop it and try to fix this.
mpiscopo Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 The gray doesn't go well with the overall color of the site. May want to change it to something warmer such as a light brown or similar color. You may also want to take the person to their cart when they add a product. It is pretty much what happens with most sites and is what people are expecting.

I may have to look for another basket pattern or spend some time with photo shop. The boss like the craftiness of the basket.

I need to do that whether the boss likes it or not. We did however have a long debate about going the cart or not to the cart. Her primary point is if you can see the selected item is in the cart, what more feed back as a cutomer do you need, and if the customer knows it is in the cart, they can keep hunting and gathering faster. Mostly her point is, it annoy's the experienced shoppers and does not impede the inexperienced. Thanks for the feed back Mark Also
radders Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 I think others have clarified my points about the grey and the basketweave. A lot about how it comes across depends on the screen resolution you are working at. On my point about the image not being sparkly that is a difficult effect to achieve but if you can it will make the product look much more attractive.
Andrew Yuen Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 The background is very hard on the eyes. I do not like the scrolling text, gets very annoying. I do not agree with having a blank header. I would use that blank space to create a design that conveys what you are selling. The blue arrows under categories should be changed to match the yellow/gray color scheme of your site. I also suggest creating a logo. Also consider changing your title to something more descriptive. Andrew Yuen osCommerce, Community Team
