Shipping price less than expected

I have the Australian shipping module and I know that a parcel sent within the same city is $6.20 according to the Aussie post website. I have seen elsewhere on these forums a screenshot of another Aussie that had $6.20 in his checkout screen.

So the question is why am I getting $5.83 every single time?

I have no tax rates set and no tax classes. I have two tax zones, one for Australia and one for everywhere else. I have setup the Aussie post standard shipping module to ship to work for Australia zone only and it does but what is with the price?

Anyone got any idea? I have spent the last 4 hours fiddling.

I don't know this particular module, but if it's anything like the USPS module then you have to tell it which Zone (State) your store is located in, so that it can set one rate for your own local zone and then set the rate for outside of that Zone based on distance from the local zone.

I have set the zone to Victoria so that isn't the issue. Now what I am finding is that all of my displayed shipping costs are exactly 10% less that what they are supposed to be. I have "Larger packages - percentage increase set to 0 and I have no tax rates.

Anyone have any idea why 10% is coming off my shipping price?

Forgot to mention that the actual shipping cost is supposed to be $6.40 not the $6.20 I originally quoted so the difference between $6.40 and $5.83 is exactly 10%. This difference is spot on for every zone I ship to.

I assumed that the shipping module gets the latest shipping info from Aussie post is that correct?

We have a tax in Australia called GST which is a flat 10% but I have all tax turned off. If I could just add 10% to all shipping I would get and solve this issue but I can't add 10% tax unless it is to everything including stock.

This seems like a fundamental issue but I just can't see how to resolve it.

Any ideas would be appreciated or any Aussies who have theirs working and let me know their settings would also be appreciated.

Cheers

I am a happy chappy.

After exhausting every avenue I trawled the actual Aussie Post shipping module and found this line:

$shipping_auspost_cost = (($charge/1.1)* $shipping_num_boxes);

It divies the actual charge by 1.1 which gives me my 10% less. I just changed it to 1.0. I guess this was hard coded for GST reasons but not all stores charge GST. You only HAVE to charge GST if your turnover is more than $50k a year and under $50k is optional but I dont think anyone would want to charge GST, it sucks.

Anyway it would be great if this value could be added as a parameter in the module so you could add it or remove it anytime you liked. I may look at this when I have time.
